Network Technician

This course has been developed in partnership with the First Nations Technology Council, Royal Roads University, and CISCO Academy. The course is delivered to learners wishing to pursue a career as a Network Technician. Participants will have the opportunity to learn through some virtual reality learning provided through packet tracer and AR/VR technology.

• Select the appropriate computer components to build, repair, or upgrade computers
• Explain how to correctly use tools and safely work in a lab
• Install components to build, repair, or upgrade computers
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on computers
• Install Windows operation systems
• Perform management and maintenance of Windows operating systems
• Configure computers to communicate on a network
• Configure devices to connect to the Internet and Cloud services
• Explain how to use, configure, and manage laptops and mobile devices
• Explain how to configure, secure, and troubleshoot mobile, macOS, and Linux operating systems
• Outline procedure to install and share a printer
• Implement basic host, data, and network security
• Summarize the roles and responsibilities of the IT professional
• Share Network Technician concepts and skills with your community
• Apply Network Technician concepts and skills with your community
• Apply strategies for successful test-taking

You'll Need to Have

An internet connection and basic to proficient computer skills including; laptop operation and maintenance, video conferencing, MS office as well as some knowledge/experience within the area you’re interested in pursuing.
